Human - Collezione

In Human, I chose to work with portraiture as a site of fracture and revelation. The figures that emerge from these images never exist within a stable space: they appear in darkness, overlap, dissolve into the photographic matter, as if their very faces were traversed by an inner tension—by an invisible gesture that pushes them beyond the limits of identity.

Here, my photography is not a means of description, but a device of metamorphosis. Scratches, solarizations, veils, and ruptures of light become parts of the body of the image—elements that allow the gaze to enter a more uncertain, more vulnerable, more human territory.

Hands that grasp, protect, or tear apart; gazes that duplicate themselves; faces that deny and reveal themselves at the same time: everything evokes a condition of passage, of unease, of searching.

In these works, the body is never whole: it is crossed, interrupted, recomposed. And it is precisely within this discontinuity that I recognize the essence of portraiture—not what defines a person, but what exposes them to their continuous becoming. The human figure becomes a threshold, an echo moving between presence and absence, between memory and erasure.

If metaphor is strongly present, it is never didactic. Human remains an open field, a porous structure that allows the viewer to intercept their own story: fragility, identity, loss, resistance, transformation.

Each image becomes an intimate gesture, but also a collective space, in which what is human reveals itself in its most essential form: incomplete, luminous, vulnerable.

In Human ho scelto di lavorare sul ritratto come luogo di frattura e rivelazione. Le figure che emergono da queste immagini non esistono mai in uno spazio stabile: appaiono nel buio, si sovrappongono, si dissolvono nella materia fotografica, come se il loro stesso volto fosse attraversato da una tensione interna, da un gesto invisibile che le spinge oltre i limiti dell’identità.

La mia fotografia, qui, non è un mezzo di descrizione, ma un dispositivo di metamorfosi. I graffi, le solarizzazioni, le velature, gli strappi di luce sono parti del corpo dell’immagine, elementi che permettono allo sguardo di entrare in un territorio più incerto, più vulnerabile, più umano.

Le mani che stringono, proteggono o lacerano; gli sguardi che si duplicano; i volti che si negano e si rivelano contemporaneamente: tutto richiama una condizione di passaggio, di inquietudine, di ricerca.

In queste opere il corpo non è mai intero: è attraversato, interrotto, ricomposto. Ed è proprio in questa discontinuità che riconosco l’essenza del ritratto: non ciò che definisce una persona, ma ciò che la espone al suo continuo mutare. La figura umana diventa una soglia, un’eco che si muove tra presenza e assenza, tra memoria e cancellazione.

Se la metafora è fortemente presente, non è mai didascalica. Human rimane un campo aperto, una struttura porosa che permette allo spettatore di intercettare la propria storia: fragilità, identità, perdita, resistenza, trasformazione.

Ogni immagine diventa un gesto intimo, ma anche un luogo collettivo, in cui ciò che è umano si mostra nella sua forma più essenziale: incompleta, luminosa, vulnerabile.
