Where the Landscape Returns as Memory - Dove il Paesaggio Ritorna
The landscape always returns to me, even when I believe I have already passed through it.
This is the meaning I sought to realize in this seriesas an unexpected mark on the film, as a presence that insists in silence.
When I create these diptychs, I do not seek perfect coincidence; I seek the hidden meaning of the place, that moment in which the landscape allows itself to be seen twice while maintaining the same continuity.
The traces, abrasions, and shifts of the analog process are not accidents: they are the living memory of matter, the way the landscape speaks to me and through me.
The image is seen twice: first imagined and drawn before being made, then found; finally, the work completes itself as if within a shared memory.
In that brief and fragile dissonance between one exposure and the next, I rediscover the essence of my vision: the landscape is not an image, but a continuous return—a dialogue that reignites, a story that rewrites itself each time.
I photograph in order to listen to this return, to allow what the landscape retains and what it chooses to give back to me to emerge.
And within that slow and persistent movement, I always discover the same thing: the landscape is like my mirror, yet it reflects something imaginary that, somewhere, truly exists.

Il paesaggio ritorna sempre a me, anche quando credo di averlo già attraversato.
Questo è il senso che ho voluto realizzare in questa serie come un segno inatteso sulle pellicole come una presenza che insiste nel silenzio.
Quando realizzo questi dittici, non cerco la coincidenza perfetta: cerco il senso segreto del luogo,
quel momento in cui il paesaggio si lascia vedere due volte mantenendo la stessa continuità.
Le tracce, le abrasioni, gli slittamenti dell’analogico non sono incidenti: sono la memoria viva della materia,
il modo in cui il paesaggio si racconta a me e attraverso di me.
L’immagine è vista due volte; una volta immaginata e disegnata prima di essere realizzata e poi trovata, infine l’opera si completa come in una memoria condivisa.
In quella breve e fragile dissonanza tra uno scatto e l’altro ritrovo il senso della mia visione: il paesaggio non è un’immagine, ma un ritorno continuo,
un dialogo che si riaccende, una storia che si riscrive ogni volta.
Io fotografo per ascoltare questo ritorno, per lasciar emergere ciò che il paesaggio trattiene e ciò che decide di restituirmi.
E in quel movimento, lento e ostinato, scopro sempre la stessa cosa: il paesaggio è come il mio specchio che però riflette sempre
qualcosa di immaginario che da qualche parte esiste.
